On Design: Spaces for Kids

I absolutely love designing spaces for kids. Give me an empty playroom or little kid’s bedroom and I can cook up a plan that makes me want to blow off being an adult for the afternoon and get lost in a sea of Duplos.

I find that when creating rooms for children, clients allow me more freedom to experiment with color, accessories and even the way seemingly straight forward furnishings are used. An empty bookshelf can become a large doll house for tiny hands.

Get Outside: A Simple Brick Border

This weekend I finally tackled the crazy overgrown mess that was our Butterfly Garden. We put it in late last spring and never really paid it any attention throughout the summer. I say the aim was for a wild habitat…

Water Hardness and Boiler Efficiency

How is water hardness and boiler efficiency related?

Well, here’s a supremely dry yet super informative video that gives insight into the relationship between the two. Check back later this week for information about this and general boiler maintenance when we interview our favorite plumber!

12-Month Absorption Rates Since 2011 for NJ Towns

Continuing from my recent post: Current Absorption Rates in Maplewood and South Orange

I recently wrote about the current, 3-month absorption rates in Maplewood and South Orange to explain, in data points, today’s market pressures of low inventory and strong demand. I received such a great input that I wanted to expand the data to answer a few questions that I received, including how SOMA absorption rates compare to other NJ towns as well as how they’ve changed over time.
